  • Bellavista rests on ten peaceful acres, overlooking the beautiful Cobequid Bay, where the highest tides in the world have been measured and recorded. Experience the warmth of our family residence as you step back in time (circa 1830) to an era of gracious living and tranquility. The nineteen room interior has been fully restored and elegantly appointed with antique furnishings. Our three guest rooms (two with queen size beds and one with twin beds) all contain four piece en-suite baths and are situated on the second floor. From the upstairs parlour one has a lovely view of the bay and hills beyond, soaring eagles and breathtaking sunsets, nature permitting. Our village was once home to the French Acadian people. Walk the beach, dyke and marshlands that still remain as a silent reminder to their skilful labours and terrible tragedy. In the beauty and serenity of our star studded nights, one can still feel their presence and "We Remember". If history excites you and natural beauty stirs your soul then a visit to Bellavista and the surrounding area is a must. Bellavista is minutes to Tidal Bore Rafting and the village of Maitland. Our central location permits our guests the choice of various day trips to other areas without the chore of constantly packing and unpaking. We also are the best area in the province for viweing the world famous "Tidal Bore". All our rooms are $149.00 (Canadian) per night, plus applixable tax. A very amble full breakfast is served every morning. We are open year round but by reservation only in off season.

  • Cresthaven, a country inn providing bed and breakfast accommodations and lodging, lies on the shores of Maitland along the Glooscap Trail, one of Nova Scotia's pristine treasures. Situated on the Bay of Fundy, Cresthaven provides one of the finest examples of Maitland's elegant historical homes that has brought the village to the forefront and made it Nova Scotia's first Heritage Conservation District. Constructed for the most part by the master carpenters of the local ship building industry, the homes of Maitland provide a extraordinary exhibition of unique 19th century architecture. Cresthaven was built in the Classical Revival Style for Captain John Macomber in 1865. The roof eaves are enhanced with dense bracketry and dentils, and the corners of the house are tastefully framed with wide, finely moulded pilasters.

Cresthaven features four luxurious suites, all with ensuite baths, fireplaces and water views. Return to a simpler time and come relax with us, enjoying complete privacy, whether you lounge on the deck overlooking the historic Shubenacadie River or decide to enjoy a moment to yourself soaking in the outdoor spa.

Situated high atop a bank overlooking the river we are just steps away from what was the original wharf, where residents would board a small ferry to be carried across the Shubenacadie river. You can still see the posts from the original wharf if you venture onto the beach for a walk or perhaps a bit of rock hounding.
