  • Now it’s true that the communities of Highway 215 have an abundance of artists who work in a variety of mediums. But our story doesn’t start there. In fact our story starts two centuries ago. By the mid 1800's Selma, and many communities all along the Bay of Fundy shore line were major players in the ship building industry. This was the time before steel construction boats. With the convenience of the moving tides and the abundance of timbers, the Bay of Fundy was a booming place. Much of the historic significance of the era is preserved within the communities of Highway 215 through architecture and museums along the coast. The Selma Schoolhouse is a part of this network. With historically significant ties to many neighboring communities, the Selma Schoolhouse served the educational needs of the children of the communities from 1868 to 1964. In 2002 the Selma schoolhouse was restored to near original condition. Today it stands as a monument to the communities it once served. It is open to the public and serves to remember a less hectic pace from a time gone by. Gallery 215 is housed in part of the Schoolhouse. It gives our local artists an outlet in which they can display their work. Many of our artists either live in the local area or have otherwise deep roots in the community. Gallery 215 is a showcase for their artwork. Gallery 215 will open its doors for the first time July 29, 2006. The Gallery will have art for display and sale. Gallery 215 is located in the Selma Schoolhouse, Hants County, Nova Scotia, Canada. On the route to Selma, the Bay of Fundy can be viewed from many vantage points along Highway 215.
