  • Since its incorporation in 1986, the Society has steadily grown to become a dynamic and viable community partner. While maintaining loyalty to its mission, the Society, in co-operation with other agencies and service bodies actively sponsors a broad range of programs. The Ready, Set...Work! Program serves Windsor and West Hants, assisting adults to reach their individual goals of employment and/or education. This is a nine week program taking participants through a step-by-step process toward employment or training.

  • Ardoise Recreation Centre is an active community meeting place operated by volunteers who are sincere in their desire to enhance the lifestyle in the community. Promoting active living within our communities, Ardoise Recreation Centre offers something for everyone! Join us for non-smoking darts, our seniors' programs, card parties, flee markets, Topps for weight loss and management, and bingo six times per year. If you're looking for some exercise, social time, and fun, come out every Thursday night for square dancing at 8:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome!   • Belmont Communty Hall offers active communtiy living. Join us every Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. for 45s card games and the second Tuesday of each month for a monthly card tournament - registration begins at 12:30 p.m.
    The Women's Institute (WI) is held on the third Thursday of each month.
    Get to know your neighbours by taking part in the monthly breakfasts! On the first Saturday of every month take a break from your kitchen and join us at ours from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. for a delicious breakfast amoung friends!

  • The Block Parent Program of Canada is a registered charity and Canada's largest volunteer-run child safety organization. Over 500,000 volunteers from coast to coast help to make communities safer for everyone. The distinctive red and white Block Parent window sign in the window of a home, tells children, seniors and others that help is at hand if they are lost, frightened, or in distress. In addition to their safety network, Block Parents offer community education programs to increase the personal safety of children, teens and seniors. Working together with educators and police, Block Parents help make your community safer.

  • Brooklyn Fire Hall bookings available for Weddings, Anniversaries, Reunions, Retirements, Birthdays, Seminars. This facility is climate controlled. There is ample parking. Seats 180 people. Catering is can be arranged.

  • CBDC Hants-Kings is a non-profit, community based centre that assists residents of both Hants and Kings Counties in starting, modernizing, or expanding their own business. The organization contributes to the community economic development of these communities through financial, counselling, technical, and self-employment assistance. Financial Services

    • CBDC loans up to $150,000 with a minimum interest rate of 8% for starting, expanding, or modernizing a business
    • SEED loans up to $20,000 with an interest rate 2% above prime for anyone wishing to start a new business, as well as for youth under 35 to modernize or expand their business ($2,000 free 'management' training possible)
    • SIB loans up to $5,000 with no interest and a chance at a possible rebate up to 25% for "returning" students to start their own business. David Upton, working out of our Windsor office, is current regional representative.
    • CYBF loans up to $15,000 for youth between the ages of 19 and 34 (mentor requirement)

    Self-Employment Services CBDC Hants-Kings offers the Self-Employment Benefit Programs for Employment Insurance (EI) eligible residents of both Hants and Kings County, who are unemployed and wish to start their own year-round business. This includes individuals who are currently in receipt of EI, have been in receipt of EI in the past three (3) years, or have been on maternity / patnerity benefits in the past five (5) years. Staff work with the client to assess their business proposal, develop a business plan, and provide ongoing professional development and counselling support, as they develop and launch their business over the course of the program. Benefits to client include, but are not limited to, income, counselling, and professional development support.
