Hants Moves HQ to East Hants

West Hants Council’s decision to drop out of the regional partnership with Windsor, Hantsport and the Municipality of East Hants, forces the Hants Regional Development Authority to relocate their head office to Elmsdale.

“The RDA has been instrumental in helping community groups in West Hants deal with funding agencies to secure support for community projects. It was the RDA that created a bridge between community groups and the complex funding application and review process,” said Don Aldous of the Cheverie Crossway Salt Marsh Society.

“The impact of West Hants Council’s decision means the RDA will no longer assist businesses and community groups located within West Hants, nor will they work to attract immigrants to West Hants. This reduction in service will immensely impair progress and growth in Hants County,” says Jennifer Daniels, Chair of the Windsor Business Enhancement Society.  “This is an issue that not only affects our downtown core businesses, but also will have an overwhelming effect on all the communities of Hants County. It has been the vision of the Windsor Business Enhancement Society to create an inviting business district, drawing in the local community, outside communities, tourists and to create an appealing environment for new businesses to call home. By severing the relationship with their regional partners, West Hants virtually stops the momentum that drives many of us to achieve the goals of making Windsor more than just the Gateway to the Valley, but the Gateway to a successful Valley Community.”

“The Board of Directors of the Hants RDA understands the demands and opportunities for businesses are in a state of constant motion and communities have to be constantly changing so that when the opportunity is presented, we are ready and waiting to take action. While the decision coming out of the Board of Directors meeting in Elmsdale on August 3rd was to relocate and expand strategic resources within the Municipality of East Hants, the Board also decided to maintain a reduced satellite office in Windsor. This move will ensure all our business clients and community partners receive the accurately identified competitive factors that we as a region can use to create substantial future economic benefits,” says Hants RDA Executive Director, Claude O’Hara.
