Health Facilities

The regional hospitals serving communities in Hants County offer 24-hour emergency care, acute medical, general surgical care, physiotherapy, laboratory services, diagnostic imaging services, and a number of ambulatory services. Medical professional centers are located in Windsor and the East Hants Corridor, while rural areas of the County are served by community health care centres. Collectively, these facilities house a variety of family physicians, dentists and optometrists, chiropractors, therapists and other specialists.

Hants County is also within close proximity to major provincial health care institutions in the Halifax Regional Municipality. Halifax is home to the QEII Health Sciences Centre which provides care for tens of thousands of people each year and is the centre of excellence in health research. Individuals from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, or PEI requiring specialized care would visit the QEII. The IWK Childrens Hospital is also located in Halifax.
