As a gateway into the East Hants, Hants County experience visit the South Maitland Centre. There is a Bay of Fundy tidal observation park and interpretive centre; tidal observation deck over Shubenacadie River; nature park with trail, bird & eagle watching, marsh and pond system. Museum in original train caboose features local lore. Staff are Bus tours and groups are welcomed. Uniacke Estate Museum Park |
The Uniacke Estate Museum Park is one of Nova Scotia’s 27 provincial museums. Built between 1813 and 1815, the grand country house is one of the finest examples of Georgian architecture in Canada. The estate offers visitors a vivid glimpse of life in the early 1800s among Nova Scotia's gentry. There’s also a tea room on site with light refreshments for sale, and ample space for picnic lunches. And last but not least, spend some time exploring one or more of the seven outstanding hiking trails available on this 930-hectare property. Dawson Dowell Park |
Situated just at the edge of the village core of Maitland, this day-use Park provides easy access to spectacular views of Cobequid Bay and the famous Tidal Bore. Pause for lunch in the gazebo; parents will enjoy the garden plantings while the kids will love the playground facilities. An easy path over the Acadian Dyke wall will lead you to a public wharf, for an up close view of the turning tide rushing towards the mouth of the Shubenacadie River.
